PCPGH3 and Dev House PGH Catalyst for Success
I am a newbie to the social media crowd. I also am the farthest thing from a fluid programmer that exists, but I have joined/followed both niches. In the past couple of months my perception, of Pittsburghs’ Tech networking groups as well as those who pilot them, has become all warm and fuzzy. I was always into networking, but it was in the salesy stiff corp crowd. All everyone wanted was a biz card and away they went. How is it that a business card establishes a relationship?
The PCPGH3 and Dev House seem to be a more sincere crowd. It takes more than just a business card to consider someone a connection. I have spent months at conferences and trade shows, and chored over distributing biz cards to make as many potential clients as possible. I think I may have handed out 3-4 cards at PCPGH3 and seem to have walked away with so much more than just another potential client. I have made some friends and most of all realized that my tribulations aren’t just mine, they are shared with everyone who strives to make social media more widely accepted.
I remember how long it took for my previous employer (I left 3 days before PCPGH3) to grasp what a blog was let alone how to manipulate it for business purposes. I have the same song with video optimization and CMS platforms…ugh.
I want to offer my thanks and praise to those troopers (you know who you are) for putting these aforementioned groups together. This is going to the true catalyst for innovation and acceptance for the social media landscape. I pledge my full attention (now I am without an agency) to helping any and all people and businesses to accept and USE social media conduits.
