Holistic Internet Marketing-Image Optimization

I recently posted about video optimization and how I came to find a worthy technique with real results. That seemed to spawn some interesting thoughts, could this method be used for images as well as video?

To explain a little deeper, I found that during times of economic strife many businesses seem to tighten budgets and abandone creative thought and methods. Try selling a video or press release to a company, who is trying to figure out how the economy will effect them. Or better yet, how the economy has already effected them. It doesn’t sell.

Well it is now time to leave no drawer unopened and no paper unturned, to find our next piece to optimize on your site. This method is very cost effective. Many businesses have old commercials laying around and power point presentations of goods and service that they have used in the past. All this media can be used to build site visibility. You do not need to buy more mouse traps to get your site seen, you need to unearth the gold in your office right now.

I started with presentations, because I could convert these to video as well as images. The video can be put through the video optimization process I mentioned before. As for the images well pay attention. By submitting an image to 8-10 image directories (Snapfish, Flickr, Picasa …), you have created 8-10 keyword rich profile pages that have preferential treatment with regard to indexing over your current web site. Use the same title for all submissions and the same keyword set and description. This will ensure that this specific image will be indexed when the core keyword used is searched. This technique is still in its beta theory but, It has just been started. Now that you have found all the presentation s you could and optimized them in video and image, look around some more. Use screenshots from your site as images and optimize them as well. Scan any and all pr and media flyer’s and newsletters into images and repeat the process. You will begin to see how “displacing content” is a very viable and cost effective means to an SEO end. Now that I have you thinking add the number of profiles for 1 image and the number of profiles from 1 video or presentation = a lot of stuff.

So, we have talked about video otimization and how to do it. We have now laid out the process for image optimization. Where else do you think that you can submit text based content too, press release sites?

Press Release+Video+Image+Free Local biz listings= total local Internet saturation!

Online Marketing Consultants finally begin to embrace Video Optimization

It has been at least 16 months since I first brought the concept of video optimization to the table. I tested my technique using some home videos from a trip to Haunted Gettysburg. After watching how this video not only dominated most video directory sites I began to see it pop up on search engine result pages. It began to show up on the first page for the search “haunted houses gettysburg”, under profile pages being indexed by search engines, from all the video directories I submitted it to. Being the thinker that I am, I saw an opportunity to limit test if you will, the search results for rank in different industries. I played around with creating lists of places that I could submit my video to, that would allow me to add a keyword rich file name, title, keyword set and description.

At this point I found a company called Tube Mogul, they had a creation that would mass submit your video to some of the nets heaviest video directories (i.e. YouTube, GoogleVodeo, AOLVideo, Myspace video. See this was where I changed how I look at search online. I figured that If I could choose a keyword or phrase that was competitive and producing ROI, use that word to anchor all the SEO for 1 video. 1 video submitted to 17-20 video directories with the same keywords, title, description and file name. Based on the ability of the search engines to index these sites like they were current news meant that I just saturated the web with 17-20 keyword rich profile pages on trusted and often indexed sites that lead back to my site. WOW, right. You can imagine how quickly this type of idea can make your head-spin, but there was one thing, would it = $$?

Well as it turns out I am working with some local Pittsburgh Attorneys and Lawyers on web development. I thought of no other industry more jaded than law to try my first video optimization. I shot a 30 second vid with my attorney, using a green screen back ground, this enabled me to re-use this video with different backgrounds. I pushed it through Tube Mogul and waited….waited….and waited about 2 days. The video started to show up on video searches for “Pittsburgh Lawyers & Attorneys” alot! I looked everyday and everyday I saw my video more and more 3 out of 10…5 out of 10…….8 out of 10! The other results were big money law firms paying big dollars to have their TV commercials posted online. I wasn’t just seeing this result in Google Video I saw the same in other video search engines and directories. I was able to create a mass of videos all the same all keyword specific and they got indexed and ranked well. Some of the Technorati vid pages even showed up on the 1st page result of google for “Pittsburgh Lawyers and Attorneys”.

With my new found power the next step was to link the video to relevant pages and watch the sites climb, and they did. I continued my exploration of the search results vs. video SEO. I submitted the same video the next month with a different background and the same keywords and guess what? I saw the same result only now guess who I was knocking out of place? My first video! HA! Now I have double the profile pages wth the same keyword rich content, do you think that one of my profiles might bledd through to the web results? They did.

In hindsight, I overlooked the real opportunity with video optimzation, monetize! This technique is great if you can figure out how to make money from it. There are still some holes in the model, like will this type of linking and saturation lead to ROI? and If this worked for video can it work for images, articles, presentations?

New Moves In 2009 for Internet Marketing & The PITTSBURGH Punch

This year is going to have to be a good one. Wait let me rephrase that a “Great” year. Financially many folks feel the burden of mistakes made by others. Physically I feel the burden of mistakes made by myself. There will be little room for error and even less for poor investments. Keeping a clear head is my sole resolution!

As for the internet marketing world we will finally show how mortal we really are. Online advertising is starting to show some gaps and holes. Companies are going through the regular steps of financial crisis (micro-session) prevention by cutting online marketing budgets and other internet based mediums. Much of the initial retreat has already started, but without better education on search engine optimization and social media marketing, many opportunities will be missed until these basic concepts are grasped.

Search engine optimization is not the same as search engine marketing. Business owners will need learn the differences and benefits of both. The realization that internet marketing is measurable and cost effective seems to be pie-in-the-sky for most. Let 2009 be the first year for business owners and techy’s alike to embrace real statistics from what most will consider “enough time”. There should be some sort of government regulation on the horizon, this will be the big news of 2009 (in my opinion).

Let me conclude by stating, I will preach less about understanding internet marketing and online advertising, and more about who is using it and how it works for them. The PghPunch will show some new methods of ranking and internet visibility by demonstrating these techniques live! I will expand on this new format in my upcoming posts.
